From Our Table To Yours - Happy Thanksgiving
i am so excited about our new series on the blog called from our tables to yours. we spend so much of our time designing, creating, and collaborating with our clients; dreaming up fabulous weddings and events for all the special moment in their lives. we thought it would be fun to share what we do for our own family events this holiday season. in our family thanksgiving is my holiday so everyone comes to our house for dinner. i love that thanksgiving is about everyone coming together, eating, sharing stories and spending time together; it is truly the best way to start the holiday season. we always have oysters and appetizers out on the back deck and even though it was cold this year I think everyone still had fun (plus this gives me extra time in the kitchen to get everything finished)!! our table was full between our 20 guests, the turkey, the side dishes i made and all the dishes that our guests brought we have enough left overs for the week - yum.
theme for dinner this year - warm and inviting:
when i started designing this year’s holiday table i began with the linen. i LOVE all the new velvet options out right now and it is so fitting for the holiday season. i used the flowers to pull out the rich tones of the plate. to be honest i was not sure about the orange mixed with my burgundies, plums and blues but that is why it is good to try new combinations - you might find something you adore!!! i needed to leave room for the family style dinner and all our platter so i designed one arrangement for the center of the table with two much smaller arrangements for the sides.
tips:
set the table the night before.
prep all the veggies the day before (and make any side dishes you can ahead).
buy inexpensive tupperware containers so that at the end of the night you can pack up to go leftovers for all your guests (make sure to save some for yourself).
remember to have fun!!
with love, rachael
